Sean's Journey
A fuller look at Sean Ngu's badminton path, from early training and national selection to international tournaments, university life, and the beginning of Sean Badminton Coaching.
Sean started playing badminton at age 8, and what began as a simple love for the game slowly became something more serious. By age 11, he joined KLBA and began moving through Kuala Lumpur's competitive badminton pathway. Early tournaments, including the National Junior Grand Prix, gave him his first taste of higher-level competition. At age 12, he went through national selection, setting the foundation for the next stage of his journey.
Sean was selected as one of seven players in Malaysia from his age group and trained as part of the Malaysian national team for two years. This period exposed him to the discipline, standards, and pressure of high-level training. He also represented Malaysia in BWF junior tournaments and achieved his first BWF Asia Junior Ranking, giving him early international experience as a young player.
After the national pathway, Sean continued developing with Sports Affairs Badminton Club. In September 2022, he played his first BWF international tournament at the Polish International Challenge in Poland. From there, his playing journey expanded across Asia and Europe through BWF tournaments, while also representing Terengganu in Men's Singles at SUKMA 2024.
As Sean continued as a university student-athlete, badminton began to take on a new meaning. He started private coaching in October 2024, later expanding Sean Badminton Coaching publicly in May 2025. Now studying at Sunway University and pursuing his direction in Entrepreneurship, Sean connects his playing experience, student-athlete life, and coaching work into one personal badminton journey.
What It Means Now
It became a way for Sean to share what he has learned with players who want to improve, enjoy the game more, and feel more confident on court.
